When thinking of Bruges, I often think of the wonderful architecture, the amazing cathedrals, the waterways and its rich history---it's the most picturesque city of Old Flanders. Those cathedrals do have an impact as you walk around town with a scruffy scarf wrapped around your neck while carrying some type of overly priced hot drink. Wandering around Bruges does give you that urban feeling mixed in with a touch of the ancient past that goes back to the first century. There’s so much to see and do that you often find yourself ducking into one of the many breweries Bruges is famous for. And we all know, the Belgians know how to make some delicious brew! This city makes you feel…well…cool. What else can you say? Belgium and Bruges should be put on your friendly list for sure. There’s a comfortable vibe that makes you want to stay and is the inspiration for this bracelet. The brown colors and textures of this city, especially in Fall, were in mind when creating this piece. I chose Black Pyrite Stone with a nice thread of brownish red, Big Tigers Eye Gemstone Beads with a similar color tone and different wood beads to represent some of the many cathedral exteriors and interiors. The Grain Wood and Palm wood really do capture those interior textures. When the sun hits the Tiger Eye Gemstones, this piece really pops on the wrist. Also included is an Antique World War 1 Belgian Army Button as reminders of Bruges' rich past. It’s hard to believe that button is now over 100 years old! A Bone Mala Skull is added as a reminder to search out as many of those different Trappist Beers as possible because they will bring a BIG smile to your face. Proost!
