When I first saw these very cool Green Opaque Czech Glass Beads, I immediately thought of those old 1960’s – 1970’s Coleman coolers, lanterns, flashlights and propane stoves we used camping back in the day. Funny how a color can spark your memory of some of the best times out in nature. From the mountains in Yosemite to one of the 1,000 lakes in Minnesota to the Washington State coastline, you always had at least one of those easily identifiable green camping tools. Nowadays, we have all the modern conveniences, but back then, these tools were state of the art to us and a must when heading into the sticks. Our Dad’s still have these items laying around in the garage or in the basement somewhere. They are a testament of their quality and thankful memories that they helped shape. So when I got these beads home, I immediately thought about creating a bracelet that has an old, earthy look from back then….something you might have picked up from a roadside Hippie shop when heading into the park. The Green Opaque Czech Glass Beads do look exactly like those brand-new Coleman camping tools that you picked up at the local hardware store. The grainy Palm Wood Bead and Hand-Cut Buri Nut Beads resemble the woods and cut firewood around camp. The Ox Bone adds additional grit and patina to this piece and the Antique Reno Airlines Uniform Button has 3 painted mountains on it. The colors on it also tie in the camping vibe. BTW, why do so many parks have 3 sister type mountains in them? A Bone Mala Skull is there as a reminder to always keep those little memories of nature alive and a Hand-Carved Ox Bone bead resembles a fire log that you just put on the campfire.
