The Galapagos Islands are the place to go to see how the planet once was and to get an understanding of the ancient world. We can thank Charles Darwin for helping to discover this treasure and for pioneering the need for science and exploration. These volcanic islands are part of the Republic of Ecuador and are about 550 miles off the South American mainland. Today, it’s much easier to get out there and sometime the crowds can be a little annoying. However, if you get a brief moment to hike a little inland or relax on shore to watch this amazing topography or a chance to take a dip into the sea to share it with the unique marine life, then it is worth fighting the crowds. Everyone is there for the same reason so pack your patience and enjoy your fellow man because he is evolving too. What’s cool is that you still get that ‘something totally knew” feeling when you first sight the islands. Even though you have seen the documentaries and read all the guidebooks, you can’t begin to describe the wonder you feel when they first come into view. Charles Darwin must have felt this way too and for a brief time and he had these islands all to himself. That’s why I made this bracelet. It’s a tribute to that man who changed our knowledge of the world and to the excitement he must have felt exploring this place that he discovered. This is one of those bracelets that will get a lot of comments because it just looks the business. The Black Lava Stones represent and resemble the volcanic rock of the islands and the Recycled Glass Beads and Puka shell add the islands’ connection to the sea. The Aged Ox Bone adds an antique feel to the bracelet and the Huge Bone Mala Skull is a shout out to Charlie himself. It is also a reminder for you to never stop exploring. Bring along rum and don’t forget to tip your bartenders.
