When out to sea and exploring the coastline of Monaco, there is a building that really pops out at you of the city, No, it’s not the big casinos or lavish homes or even the municipal buildings. It’s the impressive 100-year-old cliff-side Oceanographic Museum of Monaco also known as “The Jacques Cousteau Museum.” I’m telling you; it’s quite a sight to see and really pops out on that shoreline. It also came as a very nice surprise because you don’t often associate Jacques Cousteau, museums and Monaco all in the same thought. Cousteau actually was the head of this museum for over 30 years from 1957 – 1988 so you know this museum has some gusto. From the outside, the stunning architecture is amazing and if you just get to sit outside and people watch or gaze out to the sea, it’s worth the visit. Going inside this space will blow you away. I could go on and on, but you will have to go there for yourself to experience it. Trust me, you’ll need more than one day there. This bracelet was made because of that nice surprise of finding this spot, especially from the sea. The Large Square Camel Bone represents the building’s shape against the cliffs you see from the ocean. The Recycled Glass Beads mimic the navy-blue colors of the ocean’s water along that coast. The Hand-Carved Yak Horn and Ox Bone add a little architectural flare of its own to this piece. There is an Antique 1941 10 Centimes French Coin to tie in the French influence of that region. The Bone Mala Skull is a shout out to the hero of the oceans, Mr. Jacques Cousteau. So many generations have been influenced by him and when we think of the sea, his name always seems to wander in. This is a very cool piece and has a clean, ocean vibe that does tie in nicely with that coastline view. Now that you know about this spot and museum, it’s time to go there for an adventure. Pay homage to the one who opened our eyes.
