The island of Cyprus was first settled over 13,000 years ago and is the third largest island in the Mediterranean. Due to its importance as both a trade and strategic location, it became a crossroad of Europe, Africa and Asia. It has had a lot of disputes over its colorful history and now is divided into 4 parts. Put all that aside and let’s just focus on how beautiful it is. The island is dominated by two mountain ranges and at the highest point is Cyprus is Mount Olympus. It’s an arid island and always in need of fresh water, but it does have the encompassing Cyprus Mediterranean forests and some truly amazing beaches to cool you off. If you’re not up in the hills enjoying some of the inland villages like Lefcara, get down to the coast for some amazing dips in the clear, aqua blue water. Hit up Ayia Napa with the natural love bridge, Lara Beach on the Akamas Peninsula to get away from the crowds and the Blue Lagoon for some amazing snorkeling. One thing you will notice when meandering around are all of the grapefruit and pomelo plants everywhere. They give off a nice citrusy scent if the breeze hits you right. They also taste dang good when you get a chance to hide away from the heat at the local café. That fruit goes even better with the local Cypriot Brandy (best in one of their famous Brandy Sours). It’s a great way to cool off and reset for the day of endless sun, sea and sightseeing. This bracelet incorporates the colors and patterns of Cyprus. The Aqua Blue Crackle Beads represent the color of the sea water and the Recycled Yellow/Orange Glass beads are a shout-out to that grapefruit/pomelo fruit you see dotted along the roads.
