Foix is this picturesque French town that lies in foothills of the Pyrenees. This joint is located in the Occitanie region of southwestern France and lies close to the borders with Spain and Andorra. There’s a Romans built fort on top of a steep rock from which Château de Foix (Foix castle) now rests and it dominates over the red-tiled roofs of town. If you want your French mixed in with a little flavor of Spanish, this is your place. It’s a kick back place that boasts several weekly markets with farmer goods and crafts. If you’re visiting though, you come here for the rustic feel and the spectacular views. It’s a place to wander and enjoy a day with your camera searching for a spot to grab some grub and a thirst quencher. However, if you walk to the top of Château de Foix and look out to the Pyrenees Mountains, you’ll get why you need to come here. It feels homely and you’ll remember your time here.
