The Gobi Desert is a cold and semi-desert and grassland region located in northern China and southern Mongolia. It is an isolated place of extremes that is only inhabited by the tough locals of the area. It can reach temperatures from 115 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer months and -40 degrees in the winter. The Gobi is also home to many animal species from Camels, to Black-Tailed Gazells to an occasional Snow Leopard. Throw is a bunch of dinosaur fossils from back in the day and it is a true scientific destination. Let’s just say that a lot of tourists don’t get to this part of the world. Unfortunately, this desert is still growing due to over-grazing of livestock and outside human activity. However, it still is a wonderful place to get away from people and to experience the wide openness of the world. This bracelet was made to reflect the desert tones and textures of the Gobi Desert with the Picture Jasper, Ox Bone and Hand-Carved Water Buffalo Bone Beads. The Huge Ox Bone and Coconut Wood resemble some of the rough landscape and an Antique Asian Coin (I believe it to be Chinese) is thrown in for the cultural significance. The really funky Bone Mala Skull is a shout-out to those who love to seek out those wide-open landscapes on their own.I dig this skull due to the great lines carved into it. This is a nice, chunky piece and looks the business on the wrist---it has a very organic and cultural feel to it. It looks like it may have been a piece you traded for while crossing through. This bracelet does conjure up those places of solitude we yearn for so go find them.
