The Mojave is a desert in the southern rain shadow of the Sierra Mountains and named after its indigenous Mojave people. It is also called the “high desert” because it has the highest elevation of all the deserts that make up the North American Desert (Mojave, Sonoran, Chihuahuan, and Great Basin). It’s primarily in Southern California, but also encompasses parts of Arizona, Nevada and Utah. It’s a very bleak, inhospitable, bone dry, dang hot/cold and absolutely gorgeous at the same time. It’s got so much to see from Palm Springs to Death Valley to Joshua Tree to Pahrump. Okay, it’s kinda hospitable in some places. The roads through the Mojave Desert are spectacular for an open road drive which you just gotta do. However, some of these roads can be quite lonely and eerie…especially at dusk. As Lawrence of Arabia said, the desert is clean. That’s what you get when spending time here…lots of tan tones that just blend together to give this desert that clean, yet rugged feel. The Mojave is one of the coolest places on earth in my opinion and often gets overlooked. This bracelet was made to mirror that clean, desert look. The Matte Cream River Rock, Ox Bone and Hand-Carved Water Buffalo Bone blend together to do just that. A Huge Ox Bone Skull is included as a reminder to always take caution when out in such wide, open country. It may be beautiful, but if you don’t respect it, things can happen. Plus, the skull looks cool as hell! I really dig this piece for its look and lines and hope you will too. Hey, it would be cool to see it wrapped around your wrist while resting on top of the wheel as you’re heading down that lonesome highway.
