While making this piece, I was thinking of a drive along the coastline during the Fall in any one of the many Scandinavian countries---views galore and peaceful bliss. As a driver or passenger, it’s quite relaxing just looking out that window on a gray or sunny day. It might not feel the same during a big storm, but picturing it feels exhilarating eh? The gray/brown colors and textures while passing through this region are calming. The subdued sea colors, the rough and rocky coastline, the distinct coastal homes, long sea bridges and densely wooded forests along these roads all add to a soothing vibe to the journey. It's also amazing to see some of the things that wash up on shore there and I often wonder where those things have traveled from. If you are just standing at water's edge and looking around anywhere here, you feel insignificant in a good way. It's hard to explain. Calmness and a sense of place maybe? Now on to this bad boy bracelet! I really dig this piece and it has a very earthy, yet clean look to it that feels a little dressed up. It's made with Spiderweb Jasper and River Rock that are reflective of those rocky coastlines and stones at water’s edge. Throw in some Palm Wood and some Carved & Smooth Yak Bone and you start getting some of those woody textures that give this bracelet that old Scandinavian feel. The Dried Heather Root (dug from my garden) resembles a large piece of wood or log that may have washed up on shore. The Bone Mala Skull is there as a reminder of the calmness you always feel while looking towards the sea. Get to the coast, be calm, be peaceful and share it on your journey.
