The Sea of Cortez (now known as the Gulf of California) is a marginal sea of the Pacific Ocean that separates the Baja California peninsula from the Mexican mainland. And this body of water is so blue of blue it is hard to describe. It is a marine wildlife paradise boasting one of the most ecologically diverse seas on Earth. It’s got some of the top diving and scuba diving spots in the world and gets 9,800 feet deep in parts and the 2,500-mile-long coastline around the sea is literally a desert paradise. It’s gorgeous here and some areas still feel untouched by man mainly due to its size and long stretches of untamed coastline. This sea is also home to some of the biggest and baddest Great White Sharks out there which is the inspiration for this piece. The Recycled Glass look just like the coastal sea colors and the Puka Shell ties in the sea’s marine life. The Black Lava Stone resembles the heavily volcanic coastline and the Big 50 – 60 Million Year Old Fossilized Shark Tooth is a reminder of the big beautiful fish that swim in the depths of this blue water. The Shark Tooth is from the Otodus Obliquis species dug from the Kem Kem region of eastern Morocco whose descendants include the Megalodon, Mako and Great White---Hey, you are wearing an actual living relic!
