The Republic of Singapore is an island country and city-state in Southeast Asia that comprises the one main island and 63 satellite islands. In its early history, it was a maritime trading post and experienced lots of changes and upheavals over time. Now it is a highly developed country with its own identity---don’t think it hasn’t helped onto its cultural influences though. It’s a powerhouse on the world stage and is known for its financial, aviation and shipping industries. The city has grown to be one of the most recognizable architectural skylines on the planet. It still holds onto its former British Supreme Court Building, the Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple and the 1800’s Raffles Singapore Hotel. With growth, it has seen the addition of the spectacular Marina Bay Sands Hotel, The Interlace and the Esplanade just to name a few. All of these buildings showcase that Singapore is the melting pot of the Orient with its vibrant mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Eurasian influences. If you get up and go outside really early in the morning, there is a quiet peacefulness to this city, especially along the waterfront. If you are lucky, you’ll get to experience one of those misty mornings that falls upon the city which adds a gentle heaviness and reflective spirit to the place. Sitting on a bench with a hot cup of something and looking at all those things that we humans built is quite something. This bracelet was made with such a moment in mind.
