Who’s the Lord of The Jungle? You know it…Mr John Clyton, the Earl of Greystoke himself, Tarzan! We all know the wild adventure stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs from the early 1900’s about the feral kid raised by apes in the deep African Jungle. These were some of the first stories that got us into the romanticized ways of the world and that took us on mental journeys to far away lands. These stories had huge impacts on kids growing up and got may of us into that idea of high-flyin’ adventure. Yeah, some of the content and context is definitely outdated as well as some of those old ways of thinking. There have also been a couple more modern movies that have added even more light and flavor to the legend. However, the spirit of a guy who has contempt for modern society, flies through the jungle using vines and getting into trouble is still appealing to some. When I was originally making this piece, I was basing it on a place in Cameroon’s lush rainforests. When I put it on, I thought “That looks like something Tarzan would wear” and so there ya have it.  The African Turquoise Beads and Coconut Wood do have the colors of that part of Cameroon. The Dyed Water Buffalo Bone does give it a very ancient tribal look & feel. And I did manage to find a Resin Ape Skull (looks like bone) as a tie-in to the beasts of the forest who raised the wild-eyed kid---something Tarzan would make for himself. Plus, it looks like a piece you would pick up in that part of the world. It’s a big chunky piece that will be appreciated by someone who has that big sense of crazy adventure.
