Tepuka Islands is a Polynesian Islandi right out in the middle of the South Seas between Hawaii and Australia. It’s part of the Oceanian nation of Tuvalu and is a low-lying vegetated sand cay located on the leeward reef rim of Funafuti atoll. Yes, it’s way the heck out in the middle of nowhere. Even though it’s been eroding over the years, it still has its lush vegetation. In fact, that’s how the island got its name. “Te puka” is the name of a local tree in that region. The island’s claim to fame is a well-preserved underground bunker, which was an American communications outpost built during the Pacific War. These days, you can take a boat out for some solitude and for some great camera shots. Just coming up onto the island is worth that computer home screen photo. You can use this bracelet as an inspiration to get there and see it for yourself. This bracelet has a very nice organic feel to it---it just feels like nature. The main component of this bracelet is the Heather Root (that I dug out from my own garden) which is a shout-out to the name of the Island. The Kiwi Jasper resembles the color of the coral waters surrounding the island and the Coconut Wood represents the lush vegetation that you can see from miles away. The Hand-Carved Ox Bone adds a tribal feel to the piece and the large Acacia Wood Skull represents solitude. Solitude is a good thing when touching your feet on the sand of this tiny little piece of paradise. Go find some and let this piece be your inspiration.
