I absolutely love this bracelet and is one of the biggest statement pieces I have ever made. It’s also a very difficult piece to give up. The Black Forest in Germany is a very unique place and has some darker green colors that you’re not use to seeing in nature. The Black Forest gets its name from its thick, dark canopy of Fir and Pine Trees that block out most of the sunlight known as Schwarzwald in German and Silva Nigra by the ancient Romans. It’s so dense because those trees make the forest floor look dark and shadowy. It is a large, forested mountain range in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany and it’s the source of the Danube and Neckar rivers. This land is also associate with the Grimm Brothers fairy tales, a great old amusement park with an racetrack, old men smoking their long tobacco pipes, legendary spas and big cuckoo made from the 1700’s. This area seems rugged, yet manicured at the same time and includes wildlife such as wolves, wild boar and deer. If you’ve been here, you know the thick, piney smell of the air and those unique greens mentioned above. You’ll also feel a mysticism running wild in these trees that is hard to put a finger on. That’s how this bracelet came to be. It had to look like something an old hunter or wanderer would have made back in the day. This piece has a Hand-Carved Deer Antler Piece that exemplifies how stag horn is still used in this area. The Dark Crocodile Wood, Coconut Wood and African Turquoise resemble the colors and textures of the dark forest. A WW1 Imperial German Uniform Button has been added to give this piece a real authenticity and a Bone Mala Skull represents the great hunters and explorers of the forest.
