The Yucatán Peninsula is a vibrant region in southeast Mexico known for its long, rich history, magnificent Mayan and Spanish architecture, amazing food and culture. Oh yeah, it has some pretty cool beaches and nice aqua blue waters along the coast too. The region includes the Mexican states of Yucatán, Quintana Roo and Campeche. Some of the highlights include Cancun (for those beaches), the 6th-century Mérida Cathedral and the famous Chichén Itzá that encompasses a massive pyramid, ball court and stone temples. And did I mention the food? Man… the sauces and rich smokey flavor and second to none in this area. The Xnipec and Chiltomate salsas are literally to die for. There’s a nice ambience to this area and everywhere feels very ancient, but with a vibrant new awakening. The culture is very understated and welcoming. It really is a special part of the world and this bracelet was made to reflect its old-worldly past. The Large Hand-Carved Ox Horn and Hand-Dyed Ox Horn with the floral motif adds a tribal flavor to this piece (the leaf art looks like Agave leaves). The Ox Bone adds a grittiness and the Hand-made Terracotta Beads are a shout out to the ancient Mayan ruins in the area. The Terracotta Beads have been coated with a safe matte finish, so the natural terra-cotta does not leach out onto the skin. A Vintage Copper Spanish Style Rose Button is added to showcase the Yucatan’s colonial past. A Bone Mala Skull is added to remind you to always feel contentment for the little things you discovered when traveling---those you will remember. Viva Mexico!
